Refocussed and ready! Women's Day Two!

Hi all,

Back at it this morning! Excited for the day to commence! Drinking a cup of coffee, watching some video, and listening to my tunes... Cant be much better than this.

Thanks to Erica for her help with the blog again last night. Our training partners Gen Haley, Nikita Chicoine, Michelle Fazzari, and Erica Wiebe have been truly amazing support and resources me and our team here. They have been as focused as the athletes and are quick to ask what they can do to help the team and their athlete. From being in the sauna with them to taping matches for us at the venue, to running to get boots, food , coffee, you name it! Three of them will be competing this fall at the FISU (University Worlds) in Finland, and/or the Senior World Championships in Strathcona County. I will be excited to see them get their chance to compete for Canada soon! I hope all four of our training partners (and the rest of my Team Canada Crew back in Canada) can take this experience a pull tonnes of value out of it. Knowing that when a Canadian steps onto a mat on the international stage they can be a force to be reckoned with!

I heard lots of amazing comments about wrestling from the West to the East coast yesterday! It seems as if every support person on the Olympic team tuned into wrestling yesterday. Mark Tewksbury with Silvie Bernie were there and super pumped last night (Mark looked heart broken after Martine's loss). Kinda nice to see that others outside of our sport feel elated by our success and the pain of our defeats...

I am going to sign off for now, totally pumped listening to MY tunes (Springsteen, Blue Rodeo, Skynard, Journey, Buble, Brooks... quite the mix!)
I am going to leave you with Lyrics to a less know Garth Brooks song.

HOW YOU EVER GONNA KNOW (Garth Brooks)
That old wind that's whipping out there
It's whistlin' your tune
That wind blew pyramids to Egypt
And footprints to the moon

And that old star that you been wishin' on

Is shinin' mighty bright
But it's the fire inside your heart
That's gonna lead you to the light

How you ever gonna know

What it's like to live there
How you ever gonna know victory
How you ever gonna know
What it's like when dreams become reality
How you ever gonna know
How it feels to hold her
How you ever gonna know
What it's like to dance
How you ever gonna know
If you never take a chance

You know failure isn't failure

If a lesson from it's learned
I guess love would not be love
Without a risk of being burned

Anything in life worth havin'

Lord, it has its sacrifice
But the gift that you're receiving
Is worth more than a price

How you ever gonna know

What it's like to live there
How you ever gonna know
What you never knew
How you ever gonna know
If you're down here doin'
What the good Lord put you here to do
How you ever gonna know
If you could have done it
How you ever gonna know
How it feels to fly
How you ever gonna know
If you never dare to try

Listen not to the critics

Who put their own dreams on the shelf
If you want to get the truth to admit it
You gotta find out for yourself

How you ever gonna know

What it's like to be there
How you ever gonna know
If you're the best
How you ever gonna know
What you believe in
If you don't put it to the test
How you ever gonna know
How it feels to hold him
How you ever gonna know
What livin' means
How you ever gonna know
If you never chase the dreams

How you ever gonna know

Your potential
How you ever gonna know victory
How you ever gonna know
What it's like when dreams become reality
How you ever gonna know
How it feels to hold her
How you ever gonna know
What it's like to dance
How you ever gonna know
If you never take a chance

All the best from London!
Go CANADA!

Coach V
